“My oil paintings are an exploration of space. Atmosphere, light and the inherent abstraction of form are the defining elements that speak to me. It's impossible to distill the essence of a place without careful observation, which means that I begin on location recording impressions through field sketches, paintings and reference photographs. Back in the studio, the paintings resolve themselves and I try to stay honest to what first inspired me. Although my landscapes are representational, they are not intended to be photographic but rather a blend of perception - both actual and imagined. In the end, I hope to convey and share an accurate sense of my experience."

About
I am a Philadelphia area based artist and attorney. Both pursuits feed each other. Art serves as a vital outlet for creative flow and enriches my perspective in the more structured world of law. And the analytical rigor of law is more helpful than I would have imagined for the inevitable problem solving of painting. Sign up to stay in the know as new works are featured and this site evolves!
